"Give the Swiss their history" tells of the suppressed, independent history of Swiss women: of their tenacity, their successful tactics of resistance, which they found after many attempts, and their victory on February 7, 1971. In order to portray the story in a lively and descriptive way, the life and quotes of the pioneer Marthe Gosteli are embedded in it.
NEW:"We will work towards the right to vote"tells in detail about the very beginnings of the Swiss women's movement, when women from Geneva, America and Bern made their first demands for a better life for women before 1900. And how they had to realise that this required better laws and, in turn, the right to have a say in laws - that they had to work towards the right to vote and to stand for election. In order to portray the story in a lively and vivid way, the life and deeds of the "secretary" Julie Ryff are embedded in it.
"Women's history thanks to the fight for voting rights"in"Gruss aus der Küche" reproduces a speech that I gave in Salzburg to celebrate 100 years of Austrian and German voting rights. In it, I called on European women to finally fight for the right to vote and not to be satisfied with the right to vote. I reminded them that Swiss women, like no other women, have an independent history, one that is self-referential and built on their own experiences, because they had to wrest their rights from the male population and did not get them from a few leaders or politicians in exceptional situations.
